Our History
“O sing unto the Lord a new song for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand and his holy arm hath gotten him the victory” Psalm 98:1
Rev. Dr. and first Lady Barbara Ahia-Armah have been Pastoring for years with an apostolic oversight on four churches of Kingslight chapel in Osu, Adabraka and James Town in Accra as well as Kpando in the Volta region in Ghana, West Africa., and now Woodbridge, Virginia.
Placing their noble professions as Pharmacists and business on hold, they sacrificed everything in response to the call of God and sheer love for the kingdom of God. Visited with many harsh realities of life as a result of their ministry call yet they have remained undaunted looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of their faith.
Pursuant to an agreed family decision, Rev. and Mrs. Ahia-Armah shipped their belongings ahead of a major home-returning trip. However, before this could become reality, the Lord confirmed what has always been on the heart of his Servant through a strong prophetic voice to start a work in the US specifically in this tri-state area. Difficult and overwhelmingly painful as it was, this divine direction and change of plans was embarked on, purely out of faith with nothing to lean on or depend upon except the word of God.
A prayer fellowship began in late February 2009 with two people(a woman Miss Florence Tagoe and a young boy) making a total of four(4) in attendance at the Ebenezer Presby church here in Woodbridge. With Rev. and Mrs. Armah based in New Jersey at the time, they drove down every week to run the fellowship in rented cars, spending nights mostly in hotels. The huge bills were paid for by the Senior Pastor and his beloved wife from their own resources.
From this humble beginnings, the fellowship grew steadily ranging between 15 and 25 in attendance. By the leadership of the Spirit, the first Sunday service of this church took place on the 5th of July, 2009 with great support from friends and family all over the US especially the ICGC Maryland Church. This service attracted about a hundred visitors! Services were then held at 3pm on Sundays.
Today by the grace of God, after over three years of hard work and dedication, Kingslight Chapel Int. Inc. Virginia is grateful to God for over two hundred (200) precious people in membership. To God be the glory!
On October 31st, 2010 in just over a year of our existence, our newly acquired place of worship called Shebah Temple was dedicated unto the Lord by Rev. Daniel Jenkins, ICGC, Maryland. In December 2011, Kingslight Chapel made another progress, KLC acquired the building next door for an office complex and children learning center.
Kingslight Chapel has made great strides and has achieved great things in such a short space of time, firstly by the grace of God and secondly because of the excellent leadership, hard work and vision of the first couple of KLC. With the great support of loyal members, we have come this far by faith.
Today, there are ministries and departments now established, people trained and built up in Christ, talents discovered, gifts exposed, callings and grace for ministry identified and now pursued, for all these and more we thank God. Above all, there are lives transformed and directed heavenward, yokes of bondage broken, prison gates now opened, marriages stable and blissful, families strengthened, sicknesses healed and the power of God still flowing. Amen.
